Every generation has its own football heroes, some well known and others less so, though each and everyone of them will inevitably inspire the next generation, be it in their own communities or far beyond, because football unites people. It's the people's game.
It is a simple game, a game of two halves, as the proverbial saying goes, however, with a global reach that dwarfs all other sports, it could be argued that it's more than just a game. It embodies the human spirit, that many among us recognise; courage, focus and determination. Of teamwork, self-sacrifice, unity and above all, triumph over adversity. It infuriates and delights in equal measure, bringing tears, but mostly joy, to fans all around the world. They do not call it the 'beautiful game' for nothing.
